Kabul: Vladimir Putin, Russia’s longstanding President who has held the position since 2000, was formally inaugurated for his fifth consecutive term.

The 71-year-old seasoned statesman has consistently outpaced his rivals in every presidential election in Russia since 2000. On Tuesday, May 7th, he officiated his fifth inauguration ceremony, solidifying his position as the country’s leader.

Putin’s fifth term, extending until 2030, comes amidst a backdrop of complex challenges, notably the ongoing conflict with Ukraine and strained relations with Western nations.

Notably, Putin secured a resounding victory in the March 2024 Russian elections, capturing 87.28 percent of the vote. This paved the way for his latest inauguration.
